The Royal Society of Chemistry hosts Bacardi Legacy UK reveal party

Posted on: June 20th, 2014 by chandco

The Royal Society of Chemistry, part of the prestigious Burlington House in Piccadilly, helped celebrate the winners of the hotly contested UK Bacardi Legacy competition when it held a 1920s themed private dinner for over 70 guests.

Attendees included professional bartenders, as well as the two Bacardi Legacy UK finalists, Nelson Bernardes, of the Long Bar at the Waldorf Astoria in Shanghai, and Sam Kershaw, of Callooh Callay in London, and winner, Tom Walker of the American Bar at The Savoy.

Harbour & Jones Events, who has an exclusive contract at the Royal Society of Chemistry, created a three course menu for the evening, paying homage to the best of British with chicken and duck liver terrine followed by slow cooked lamb. The evening was finished off with a decadent dessert of Bacardi trifle with pistachio crumbs and caramel crackling.

Providing a rum twist to white and red wine, guests supped on either ‘Rojo’, made up of cherry, liquorice, pepper, blackberry and Bacardi 8 Year Old Rum, or ‘Blanco’, a delicious combination of orange blossom honey, fruits and Bacardi superior rum.

Transforming the Library, one of six event spaces at the Royal Society of Chemistry into an art deco dining parlour, production agency Boutique Creative created a unique pop-up bar complete with its own red lamps, old school cocktail shakers and glass tumblers.

Invites and branding for the event used Bacardi’s moto ‘A family that dines together stays together’, and diners were overlooked by draped red curtains that revealed large family portraits from Bacardi’s history – the largest family-owned spirits company in the world.

Challenging the best bartenders in the world to come up with their ultimate cocktail using Bacardi, the Bacardi Legacy competition runs across the globe with winners from each country going forward to the ultimate final which will take place in Moscow during May this year.

Harbour & Jones Events is now offering a special Bacardi cocktail menu inspired by the winning entries, including Maid in Cuba, the winning drink from Tom Walker.

The Royal Society of Chemistry has six elegant event spaces, complete with period features, contact Hannah to organise a show round – 07720 083336.
